The time has come for us to leave our cushy home in Toulouse and take up our old backpacker habits. No more fancy meals and chauffered tours. No more olives and martini when we get home from a hard day's sightseeing. Waaaaaaaaaa!
In France, since there are so many towns in the countryside, towns have beginning and ending signs, which also serve as implied speed limit changes. The above sign means "Welcome to Albi". The one below means "Come back soon, Tyrn & Kelsey!"
The train has now taken us to the South East corner of France to the famous city of Avignon. Known these days for it's arts and culture, it also was once home to the Popes of the 14th Century. Today, we toured the Palace! It is huge and took us over 3 hours of audio touring to get through the parts that are open to the public. However, it is the parts that aren't open to the public that we wished we could have seen.
Unfortunately, the Papal palace wasn't the only thing that we found in Avignon, it is also TRES windy!! We have been bombarded and are feeling pretty gritty, it reminds me of good ol' Lethbridge, well ONLY the windy part, not the old walled city part.
Tomorrow we will head to Nice, which we are hoping has nicer weather. So many puns, so little time. Then in 3 days we are going North to Grenoble to see Rich and Katy! YEAH!!

Good Blog! I feel like I am in Europe, without the cost! Stan and I were just in Florida for a holiday. It's not too cold here. No bundling up for Halloween, in fact kind of nice out!!
Say hi to Katy and Rich. Have a great visit.
We love you,
Becky (and Stan)
