Goa is Good

We are safe and sound, just having trouble getting the internet to agree with us.

After a 45 HOUR train ride (not exagerating), we were out of hectic Kolkata and into sunny Goa. Thanks to a much appreciated tip (Jesperbots) we abandoned our northern plans in favour of the southwest coast. The ride was interesting. We were in one train from Kolkata to Mumbai for 33 hours. Our seats were across the isle from a crazy old Indian that literally talked non-stop. If he felt that he wasn't being acknowledged he would resort to yelling. The only quiet times with this guy was when he was sleeping or smoking in the bathroom. We also had a family from Chicago in the compartment next to ours. The little boy was about 3 years old and you can imagine that during a 33 hour ride, he had some things to talk, cry and yell about. Needless to say it wasn't a very quiet ride, but it was great to get out of the city and see some of the countryside. At Mumbai we were to meet with a connecting train to take us to Goa, but our train was going to be late. So, we had to do some investigating and got off a station early to catch our connector. Finally we are in Colva, Goa and it is wonderful. The laid back feel of this place is instantly felt and we have been smiling since we stepped off the train. This is a welcomed relief for our bodies, after 10 days of furrowed brows!!

We would love to include pictures and more stories in this tale, but the computer won't let us put pictures on and this has been the 3rd internet place we have tried tonight. But we still wanted to let everyone know that we escaped Kolkata and made it to the beach.

We have already had many interesting things happen here and we have met some great people, so we will finish this post when we find a spot that puts up photos.
Peace, (at last)
K & T
